Old Parliament House hosts the Great Easter Egg Trail on Easter Sunday. It is a fantastic way to celebrate Easter and learn a little history along the way. We took our girls to it last year. It is basically a big scavenger hunt thru Old Parliament House collecting clues which you then turn in for a bag of chocolate eggs.
You start off by getting a colour coded map containing one of four trails. The map tells you which room you need to find in Old Parliament House to pick up your clue. Once you collect all the clues, you then make your way to the courtyard, turn in your clues and receive a bag of chocolates. Along the way, you have the opportunity to explore Old Parliament House and learn a bit of Australian History.
As a free event, the Great Easter Egg Trail is quite popular, so I recommend getting there early. The Great Easter Egg Trail is open from 9 AM to noon. The Gecko Gang is also there for face painting and other kids’ activities. We found the lines a bit long for the Gecko Gang but had a great time with just the Easter Egg Trail.
Have a Happy Easter!
